Boris Cherny, the leader of Claude Code, echoed this announcement on X last Friday, noting that such tools can still be accessed with an API key. He provided reasoning for the adjustment: "We have been striving to accommodate the rising Claude demand, and our subscription plans were not designed to handle the consumption habits of these external applications. We carefully allocate capacity as a limited resource and are focusing on clients who utilize our core offerings and API."
